URWERK UR-100V MT Hunter Green
Our Take
We’ve had the pleasure of handling some of Urwerk’s “Full Metal Jacket” timepieces – watches with bracelets. The iconic UR-202 and UR-210 as well as the UR-100V Magic T are extremely popular with collectors and enthusiasts for their heft and bad-ass aesthetic. Joining the ranks of these three rarities is a new Urwerk with metal bracelet – the UR-100V Magic T in Hunter Green.
In a full titanium jacket, the bracelet brings the model to a whole other level. Composed of 32 links, it almost appears reptilian – scaly, fluid, armor-like. One would never expect by its sheer look that the lightly sandblasted links would be as soft, light, and comfortable as they are on this timepiece. Compared to the earlier UR-100V “Full Titanium Jacket,” the Magic T is finished with tiny, glass pearls that provide a unique blasted finish – somewhere between glossy and matte. A phenomenal canvas, the Magic T is yet another example of Martin and Felix’s deep exploration of colors, textures, and materials in watchmaking.
Under the sapphire dome on the dial of the UR-100V Magic T Hunter Green, this timepiece carries all the emblems of an Urwerk: the wandering-hour time indicator, a nod to the cosmos, and exceptional color. Its namesake comes from the color on the dial and movement – a rich, metallic green that plays with light. Perfectly in line with Urwerk’s aesthetic, the hunter green color appears both industrial and organic.
As for the nod to thef cosmos, the neon hand on the satellite time indicator pokes through at 10 and 2 o’clock to reveal time’s most intimate companion: distance. At both locations on the dial, this timepiece’s owner can see the distance the earth has traveled on its rotation (555km) and the distance the earth has revolved around the sun (35,740km). For the thinking human, this is a decidedly philosophical watch to reflect on our position in the cosmos.
