Our Take

One of the most surprising things about MB&F is that they have captured the hearts of the watch community’s most traditional collectors. The brand’s Legacy Machine (LM) collection, both ultra-classical and ultra-modern at the same time, collapses the entire aesthetic spectrum of watchmaking into a single point. It’s both something from the past and something from the future; something for the traditionalists and the avant-garde. This remarkable feat of aesthetics is only one, considering the LM Perpetual features one of the most innovative and exceptional perpetual calendar calibers in the history of watchmaking, developed by Stephan McDonnell. We’re fortunate to present one of the upgrades to the original LM Perpetual. Released in 2021, this is the Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO Green in titanium.

Before we jump into the EVO, it’s important to briefly understand what makes the LM Perpetual an impressive achievement in watchmaking. The long and short is, McDonnell developed a caliber that effectively isolates the day, date, month, leap year indicators, and prevents each function from a hiccup. This design allows collectors to adjust each function independently. No further need to cycle through a year or month to get where you need and no more pressure to keep your perpetual wound. Without doubt, this is the most user-friendly perpetual calendar timepiece. With the EVO, it adds a level of robustness, also so far beyond the norms for a perpetual calendar complication.

The EVO is an overall sportier watch, trading white lacquered subdials for sleek black and blued hands for ones with a luminescent-tip. Nothing represents this shift toward sporty in the EVO more than the “FlexRing” shock absorption system, screw-down crown, larger, double-sprung button pusher, and water resistance to 80m. It’s one thing to design a perpetual calendar far beyond classical aesthetic norms. It’s another thing to make the timepiece extremely user-friendly. On top of it all, the LM Perpetual EVO withstands the wear and tear of everyday life.

How many sports watches feature a high complication and a 581-component movement? Not many. That’s the challenge MB&F faced when creating the EVO edition of the LM Perpetual. Like so many other technical challenges the brand has faced over the past 20 years, MB&F delivered yet another spectacular timepiece to add to its catalog.

This timepiece is pre-loved, in excellent condition, with remaining factory warranty.
