Our Take

Ever since we first met Stefan Kudoke at Baselworld 2019, there was so much to love about his work - strong German watchmaking aesthetic and high quality craftsmanship at great prices. So immediately we knew, we have to do something with this watchmaker. Now about 18 months later, we’re proud to unveil an Esperluxe exclusive collaboration with Kudoke: the Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition (Green Forest Special Edition).

The name for this Esperluxe exclusive relates to the dial’s color, a deep green inspired by Stefan’s forest surroundings in German watchmaking haven of Saxony. But more than dial color variation, this special edition is really about the watchmaker’s specialty: hand-engraving. Going above and beyond the standard engraving found on the Kudoke 2’s main bridge, the entire mainplate of this timepiece features a relief engraving of a traditional leaf design. And to commemorate this special occasion, “Sonderedition” is engraved on the movement. Entirely done by hand, the final finish represents the finest from Kudoke.

As for the dial, the Sonderedition retains the eye-catching design emblem of the Kudoke 2: its day-night indicator at 12 o’clock. After all, there is only so much one should change on an GPHG award-winning timepiece. It’s a stunning visual, and we love the domed disk with hand-engraved gold plating to represent the day, and white and black rhodium for night.
